Dates for our annual Spring Sale have been established. The Friends will bring out thousands of books from which you can select - Friday and Saturday, May 17-18 from noon to 5pm. Of course, our famous $2 a bag sale will be Saturday from 4pm-5pm. As is our custom, scanners, cell phones and other electronic devices are prohibited from the sale. We want to ensure that each and every customer has an equal opportunity to find that bargain!
Membership Bonus
As a reminder, the FOMPL membership year is May 1-April 30. As a bonus for all members, we're offering a 50% discount on books and media in the Friends Store for members through April 30, 2014! While some very old books, reference materials, and special items remain at their stated price (these are all in the glass case), there are hundreds of bargains available.
You'll need to show your membership card to receive the discount. So, put it in your wallet right next to your library card.

Continuing Special - an extra large selection of children's books
We've recently receive a great many excellent (content and condition) children's books. Everything from board books for the youngest to chapter books for early teens. So, we've loaded the shelves - a 50%+ increase in what's available.

Congratulations - Video Project Winners
In December 2011, Library staff requested funds
to match an LTSA grant for Teen Videography Project. Scholarship funds were authorized for approximately
8-10 at-risk Monrovia High School teens who complete community video project with the requirement that the funds were to be used to purchase books for college. Checks were issued to the teens who completed their videos. All have been have been accepted
to a college or vocational school.
Most winners attended the October 1, 2012 Friends Board meeting to accept the Board's congratulations and to pick up their checks. Winners on the back row are Jazm Jumlani, Brian Alvarado, Lauro Alvarado, Dennis Sanchez (Media Specialist who supported the contestant's work), Oscar Rhys Freeman, Marcos Molina Rodriguez, and David L. Garcia. Joining them are Friends Board members Steve Baker (back row) , Nicoline Conway, Laurel Hiestand, Cathy Hartfield, Karen Hollinhurst, Barbara Radford, and Louise Robertson. |
