Monrovia Mayor MaryAnn Lutz and City Council members recognized the 2014 Book Mark Contest winners at the July 15 meeting. While not all of the winners were able to be present, Council Members offered congratulations and thanks for providing such wonderful artwork. Certificates have been forwarded to absent recipients. Also pictured is Karen Hollinhurst, president of FOMPL. Thanks to Librarian Annette Simpson for her skill in organizing and actually conducting the contest.
Members of the public may pick up a favorite book mark in the Friends Store at the Monrovia Public Library. While electronic books and e-readers are becoming increasingly popular, there’s still something very special about an old fashioned book. Paperback Book Day celebrates the look, texture, and experience of reading a paperback classic. We'll be celebrating in the Friends Store.
